Screen Save fails to initialize ideas?

I recently did an FDISK/Format on someone elses PC; something I've done a million times, but for some reason, the screen saver will not intitialize. Not even WINXP's native SSV'er.

I have no idea what to do, and have run all manner of tests, AV, the usual tests, all is clean.

Is there perhaps something I missed on the Motherboard drivers that I have gone braindead on? I'd like to fix this, as I like to always do a good job.

    Any suggestions are welcome

Any other "werid video problems"? Have you tried installing video drivers manually?

No Tyler, no other Video problems at all, in fact the whole PC runs smoothly. I have not tried to install the drivers manually; but I know I should have to be honest. I'll try that idea and see what happens. I can see the Screensaver trying to click in, it just doesn't. Strange.....

    Thank you for the reply

Am i understanding this right Viktoria?. When you refer to screensaver, do you mean the boot screen or the screensaver that comes on after a pre-set idle time?.

If it is the latter i would suspect there is a program running in the background that is keeping the screensaver from initializing.
Have you tried it in safe mode or have you tried a selective startup?.

It's the screensaver that comes on after a pre-select idle time. The video drivers are relaoaded manually and there is no improvement.

I'll check for any hidden apps running in the background. Thanks Vidster Good Suggestion
