Windows XP has a hidden backup utility!
Lots of people don't know this.
Insert your windows XP disc into your PC. Click exit if your installation screen comes up.
Now go to your CD drive in *My Computer*. Right-click and select open. Choose VALUE ADD/MSFT/NT BACK-UP FILE. In the *files of type* drop down list be sure that *select all files* is on. Click on the NTBACK-UP.msi file and click okay.
Click the finish button and now go over too the start button/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/SYSTEM TOOLS and there it is now.. BACK-UP FILES...
This is a great little tool that Microsoft never should have hidden.

Do you mean to say that instead going through Backup, Advanced, then choosing to backup files you can do it stright from this point. Sorry if it seems I'm a bit confused, just need to know. Thanks.

No TDD, you still need to go to start>all programs>accessories>system tools>backup.
It's just that XP is not shipped with the Backup file 'NTBACKUP' by default so it won't let you make a backup. By installing 'NTBACKUP', you will be able to make a backup of your full system (including current status)and save it on your HD etc...
I don't actually use the backup utility but i have found a walk-through for you and anyone else which may be useful.
