This was weird, I tried to updatre both these programes and both failed. So ran norton antivirus, ad-aware,spybot S+D, did disk scan removed everything, cleared all cookies and still could download. Now I remebered that I had had a clean install and installed sp2 and had installed mozill firefox but had not enabled firefox in my spyware blaster programe, did that and bingo everything downloaded a dream. Forgot to say no problems found with any scan,. has anyone come across this befor., I must admit I am puzzeled because I have had no problems with viruses or spyware since I have had these programes installed. Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else has a similar problem. As I said really weird, must have been a gremlin.

It is worth noting that if you enable the TeaTimer function, it will keep an eye on your Registry for any changes. If something like CoolWebSearch tries installing itself, Spybot will alert you and ask if you want it removing ;-)

What's TeaTime function, never heard of it before, what do I do to enable it.

Open Spybot and in the top left corner select 'Mode'. Now select Advanced mode. Now go to Tools and select 'Resident'. I believe there are two box's there to check, one of them being the TeaTimer function.
Ohh yeah...Don't forget to Immunise in the main Spybot window ;-)

Which version of spybot are you useing 1.3 or 1.4 beta.

Yeah, me too. Spybot is a really powerful program, and it can alter your Registry. Not a good thing if it has bugs in it ;-)

Registry backup is your best friend .
