After reformatting a hard drive : tips?

I have had enough with all the problems I am having with my PC. It's rebooting on it's own, locking up, Internet Explorer is not working, I keep getting a "Blue Screen" in XP?!!! It's a mess. SO I am gonna reformat.

I have read the Reformat turorial. Which I shall follow. But has any one got tips on what to do after that.

The best software to install for spyware, viruses, clean disks, etc. I do have Mcafee Security Centre.

What is the best order to install software in.

Any tips on setting up hardware for the first time, loading drivers, etc.

What are the best settings to use to keep the speed up?

Basicaly any tips for setting up the PC after a reformat, to keep it running as fast and bug free as possible will be greatly appricated

A good way is to run Defragmantater often especially after installations and stuff. If you use the net alot, get a firewall.

    Hi,

Yeah cheers... I have done all that and then I followed this guide:

    http://www.tweaktown.com/document.ph...review&dId=324

It is really good, do it all the way through and you are garanteed a faster machine. It's faster than new! I was quiet amazed. Try it next time you do your reformat!

I also downloaded a defrag tool that defrags your pagefile on start up and that makes a huge difference.
