think i've killed daughters laptop
hi major problem my daughters laptop kept turning it's self off but the laptop seemed to be overheating "cos it felt red hot". so i thought the fan was broken so i've purchased a new fan and heatsink assembly. but i've installed fan/heatsink now the laptop wont work it seems to turn on but the screens totally blank.any ideas.my daughter will kill me.

Based upon your description, the motherbard may indeed be "cooked".
However, it may also be that you've dislodged something when you replaced the fan/heatsink assembly.
Did you clean the CPU chip surface and apply ~NEW~ thermal compound?
Double-check ~all~ cable etc connections.

thanks for the reply dan but amazingly a got up this morning turned on the laptop and it worked it's running a bit slow but it's working. cheers
