I'm helping a friend with his laptop. Full of viruses and trojans. It no longer can connect to www. It has XP pro essential, I have a xp pro disk. both legal codes. Can I use my xp pro disk to install clean formatted c: for his code of xp pro Essential??
I put the spyware doctor on usb, installed it on bad system and have 4 security warnings all trying to scan. In safe mode I uninstalled 2 anti spy things that I never installed and it keeps recreating itself. Also a advanced virus remover is doing the same. Right now the system is rebooting all by itself!
It will not connect to www and win xp showed a long run at a boot up of "recovering orphaned files".
Isn't there a chatroom to talk instead of waiting for a post?

As far, as I know, XP Pro Essential is a bootleg copy of XP, so I don't know, how he can have any legal key for it.
We don't help here with illegal Windows copies.
Your friend only solution is to get legal copy of Windows, and perform clean install.

I have the code label on the system and genuine version check went fine. Last week I was told to move my thread to spyware, now it's back to windows. I don't understand, and cannot find any help. What do you suggest? Windows charges 59.00 for help. He doesn't have it.

Let me emphasize what Broni said: There is no legal copy of XP that doesn't require either a serial number or activation. This version is a hacked illegal version. Hacked versions of Windows themselves could come with spy ware or viruses and do not come with any kind of support. Also we cannot help with illegal copies of windows as that is copyright infringement & is a criminal offense. Asking for such help can get you banned. Your friend will need to purchase a legal copy of windows. You can get an OEM copy of windows for $80 for home or $120 for pro. This version is designed to bypass windows genuine activation but that doesn't mean that it is legal.
