Problems Logging into XP
Hi. I'm running Windows XP on an Advent T9100 desktop machine. It's been running slowly, so I defragged it and did some general housekeeping with my documents etc. While I was at it, I created two new profiles; one for my girlfriend and one for visitors. I also decided on the spur of the moment to give my profile and that of my girlfriends passwords, which is where I've come unstuck.
When the machine's turned on and it's reached the log in page with the three profiles, after entering the password the machine says that it's loading personal settings for that profile then it says it's saving settings and logging off.
I can still log onto the other profile, but obviously that doesn' have the 'owners' privilages. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can solve my problem?
Thanks

Hi ,
As long as the passwords aren't the same ( which I'm guessing they aren't ) there should be no conflicts in user accounts . If you can boot the computer into safe mode only your account with admin priveleges will allow any changes to the system . At boot up press F8 ( dependant on make of machine ) and you'll be given prompts to start windows normally , start windows in safe mode , etc . If unsure which button takes you to the menu , power up the pc and before getting to the log in screen press and hold the power button until the pc powers off . This will automatically on reboot take you to the specific screen with the message " windows did not shut down properly " .
Choose safe mode option and make account changes as required , try turning off the guest account and removing the password on your gf's account .
Also check the NTuser.dat file and the error checking console ( right click my computer > click manage > click event viewer ) this might give a more specific answer to the error along with the MS online help section .
Another option could be to get rid of the girlfriend if all else fails ! ( just kidding )

Thanks Cyberjunkee. I'll give this a go later.
