re installing windows xp
hi my daughters pc is running really slow probably due to all the rubbish on it, can someone please tell how to remove the old windows xp to clear the pc back to factory settings and then re install windows xp i have loaned a windows xp cd,but did'nt want to install it in case i had two versions of windows on the pc. thank you

A borrowed XP CD may not work on your computer. It will install but may not activate.
What is the make and model of the PC? Many come with a hidden Recovery partition that you access at boot time. Others have a CD or DVD. In both cases this puts the system back to it's Factory Installed state.
With the make and model number I can check to see how you would handle yours.

Do you have the (factory) install disc for this machine (and the Product Key)?
Has the hardware changed (significantly) from "the place of sale"?
Is it a "proprietary" machine? (ie; Gateway, Hewet Packard, etc.)

OK. I'll leave the thread open for a while in case there are any "hitches" in the operation and you come back with further questions.
