    cannot open either HD....

i have just formatted an old pc i had lying around (xp reinstalled) its all fully updated and running fine apart from one thing, when i open my computer to open either C or D drive (both partitions of one drive) nothings happens, it doesnt crash instead just nothing loads etc.

when i right click on it to open it i get the below:

and if i click either the top two (ie where open and explore should be) still nothing happens.

however i can get into the folder if i just click on my documents (which i put into D drive) and that works fine.

i cant imagine it being a virus as like i said iv literally just formatted it..... and at the moment im running a drfrag to see if that helps!

    any ideas?

bit of an update, turned on in safe mode, still didnt work did the exact same thing, so i went to the address bar in explorer, and typed C:/, opened perfectly, then i did the same for D:/, also opened perfectly, then opened my computer and then double clicking now works and opens the folders,

restarted the pc, and now double clicking works, but right click still shows the same funny text, however this time if i click where "open" should be , it actually opens the drive.....

Usually a malware or virus issue. Have you run scans?

If you found something then there could be more so I would follow jephree's advice and post a new thread in the malware section. Work with one of our malware experts until they declare it clean. Just don't assume that its clean.
