i need help my pc wont load it gets to the load up screen and freezes i was told to unplug one of the drives this did nothin i can only get into safe mode hope someone can help!

to give some more detail my pc is custom built using windows xp professional i dont have the xp cd as it didnt come with the computer all i use it for is to check emails it was working perfectly until the other day i turned it off and it gets to the loading screen and freezes i can get into the safe modes like the command prompt and with networking but i dont really know what im doing i tried a system restore and that didnt work if anyone can help please reply to this thread i really need some help with this i dont get any error messages for some kind of hint to whats going on i tried cleaning the tower nothings working some advice from a more advanced user would be greatly appreciated XD

Did you try "Last known good configuration"?

You can also try "Safe Mode with command prompt". Here type:

chkdsk c: /r

Then type exit if it does not automatically restart.


If these fail there might be a few other options but you should really have the original XP CD.
