We need more info. What kind of computer do you have (make/model)? What kind of monitor? When/how did this start?

I have Windows XP Service Pack 3, as I'm typing my screen jumps all over the place and my cursor ends up in a different place other than where I am typing. a friend has told me it is something to do with tapping, never heard of it. Can you give me any idea how to cure this as it it driving me mad.

Does it do this on any program or on particular program(s)? Have you tried a different mouse or keyboard? Do you regularly scan for viruses?

The tapping you mentioned is a function of the touch pad, and is called Tap to click. You can usually turn this off by right clicking on the touch pad icon in the System tray area of the task bar. If not, open Control Panel then Mouse and see if there is any way to disable it there.

What is the make and model number of your laptop? It most likely has an Alps touch pad and the Alps driver should beinstalled which will allow you to disable this function.
