You need to provide more information before we can help you.
    1. Make and Model number of computer (like Dell Dimension 4100, etc).
    2. Operating system being used (Windows XP Pro / Home, Vista).
    3. What you have tried, what were the results? Saying you tried everything doesn't tell us what that is. No point in repeating things you've already done.
    4. What do you mean you can't go any further than the date the problem started in System Restore?
    5. Is your sound built into the system board or is it a separate PCI expansion card?
    6. When did it stop working? What was the last thing you did before this happened? Did you add new hardware or install or uninstall software?

Well, it all started when I turned my computer on one morning. It started to act funny;all I got was dos.
I was given the option to system covery (F 11). I did not know anything about system recovery so went
I got to the "are your speakers working" screen" I don't know what I push, but when I troubles started

I have an emachines T3624. I don't know if sound is built into the mother and I forgot to say that I have a new mother board put just resently, because the old died. I tried downloading driver from the emachines many time but there is always a problem so I just gave up. Another thing I tried was to restore it back to the date that this first happened which would be April 1,but there but it only goes back to April 2nd which the day all of this happened. I don't know if the sound is built into the motherboard. Oh yeah I have windows xp

The users guide shows that your audio and network are both built into the system board. You need to download and install the Audio driver from here: eMachines Support: Product Support and Downloads

That should fix the sound problem.

Also check device Manager to see if it shows a problem with your Sound, Video and Game Controller section (yellow or red mark).

Did you reinstall windows? You just cannot use an installation of windows from one motherboard on another as this will cause all kinds of problems. Another thing is that you no longer use the drivers for the old motherboard but you must use the ones for the new motherboard. This also applie to the sound unless the sound comes from a sound card. In either case you need to start by reinstalling windows.

Please use our System Scanner and post the link that it gives you so we can help you further.
