Hi everytime i try tyo open my documents it takes me to the search page instead

You need to be more specific. Do you mean when you try to open the My Documents "folder"? Of if you try to open a document file?

What search page? To search your computer?

Tell us about your computer, make and model, version of Windows.

When did the problem start?

When i try to open the my documents folder mate takes me straight to the search page

Click Start > Run and copy and paste or type exactly with spaces:

regsvr32 /i shell32

Click OK

Restart your computer and see if that helps.

done exactly what you said and now when i try to open the my documents or my pictures folder it says it does not have a file associated with it please create a file?

It should make sure the correct program is used when opening files.
