Hey Jephree I know you have a gaming computer and if I rememer right you are (were) using XP64. Here is an issue that I am having if you can look at it or anyone that has an answer please help. Thanks



Error 1628: Failed to complete installation. - Windows x64 Edition

Just to clarify:

The game is installed okay but it is just the patches that will not load?

Is this correct?

Does this have to do with the Windows installation its self or something on it? Please keep in mind that a lot of programs are not compliant with XP x64. The only real advantage over the 32-bit version is if you have more than 3 gb of ram.

Yes, correct Jehphree I have the game installed any every patch worked (I had to right-click some of the patches and run as Admin) but the lasted patch 1.4 I can't get it to install no matter what I try.

So far I have installed Windows Installer 4.5 I think and retried but, still same results.

I am running XP 64 OS

I think I have to go into Software Restriction Policies and mess with that, dunno but maybe?

SWEET!!!...okay for anyone that has this problem with software in XP 64 here is what you need to do (I got it to install)

Go to control Panel and click onf "Local Security Setting".....click on "Software Restriction Policies"...in the right hand colum double click on "enforcement".....under this topic..."Apply software restriction policies to the following user make sure you click on "to all users except local administors"

By doing so, it allows only the administors to install things like patches and software.
