No Sound after reinstalling xp
I have just reinstalled windows xp on my pc and now there is no sound. It is a Medion pc with onboard sound and I have tried installing the drivers from their website but the sound still wont work. I have checked that the sound is enabled in the bios.
Any suggestions, please? This happened last time I reinstalled xp and I managed to fix it but I can't remember how.

What is the exact model?
Can you link to the driver you tried?
-
The model is PCMT5 MEDMT113 Serial No. 91348010050604
The link to the download I tried is here

That should be your driver.
Go to Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > Devices
Do you have a choice of devices here?
-
I looked in control panel, sound and audio devices, hardware
and this list appeared. All items are supposed to be working properly.
IDE DVD-ROM 16X
SONY CD-RW CRX175A1
MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device
Standard Game Port
nVidia WDM Video Capture (universal)
nVidia WDM TV Tuner
nVidia WDM TV Audio Crossbar
nVidia WDM A/V Crossbar
CM18173/C3DX PCI Audio Device
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Media Control Devices
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Video Codecs
-
Look under Audio
Do you have a choice of Devices?
-
Under the Audio tab, the following appears.
Sound playback - C-Media Wave Device (no other choices)
Sound Recording - C-Media Wave Device (no other choices)
MIDI Music Playback - MPU-401 (selected) or Microsoft GS Wavetable SW synth

Perhaps the most expeditious fix would be to call Medion:
