Re: my mouse keeps mooving on its own

    Is it a new problem?

    What kind of mouse?

Have you tried a different surface?

Have you cleaned the lens area with air?

I keep a can of compressed dusting gas nearby - it is great for blasting out dust and hair from the optics (red light) area.

Just going to quickly add my 2 cents to the other suggestions that have been offered...
desk top it don't have a ball in it just red light
It sounds like you have an optical (red light) mouse. Are you touching the mouse when it starts to go off on it's own? Does the pointer go off on it's own when you don't touch the mouse? Have you tried a different mouse to see if it does the same thing?

I get calls similar to this at work and what I have found that some people tend to lift the mouse slightly when they move the mouse so the Optical (red light) is not directly on the mouse pad anymore. I also found that some were just using the mouse on their desk instead of a proper mouse pad and that was causing the mouse to move erratically. Heck, even the wrong type of mouse pad cause cause this to happen.

Here is a good article from HP of some of the issues with "Optical" mice...
