Help please I am not the most IT literate of people so if you could keep it simple it would be appricated!

my tool bar at the bottom of the screen seems to have changed it now as a thin blue line above it. Also when I start my computer and click on any desk top icon it takes ages to load I have also found that when I click on the clock on the tool bar I get a message saying DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\timedate.cpi. is not a vaild windows image.
Any help would be appricated keep it simple please. I am using XP with service Pack3, Fire Fox and Bit defender total security 2009.

You might try a System Restore to a point prior to your problem:
start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
