I installed a dvd in computer. When PC was restarted it will boot up & will pull up with the background no task bar or icons. In task manager explorer is not there. I tried to add it & it tries to pull up task bar & icons. It will flash real fast. Need anything more let me know. Thanks for your help.

Try the Safe Mode option of "Last known good configuration"

If that fails try Safe Mode proper and choose System Restore.

Can you get into Safe Mode?

I did a system restore. It worked, but it date was not what I put in. Back to the time the PC was new. So did we lose why was on the PC? I set it back 10 days.

If the computer manufacturers Restore was run rather than Windows Restore than I'm afraid you're back to the beginning.

That should not have happened without ample warning. Who is the manufacturer?

Its E-machines W3506. Its not a bad PC. No warning it just did it thing. So now we reinstall ever thing. I think with the DVD we will be looking at a new power supply later on. Thanks for your help.
