    What is the exact error?

Are you using the Acer CD?

    What was the original OS?

If it was not XP you will have a hard time installing XP.

Acer might also require its own disks.

Note also that changing the OS or installing from non-Acer disks will void any warranties.

What was the original Operating System?

    Was it XP or Vista?

Did you not receive a recovery DVD/CD from Acer?

This one is going to be another Sata Drive/Xp issue Jeph. I googled his laptop and it's too new for regular XP without the XP CD having some sata drive support for said laptop.

In other words you are getting the blue screen Because The XP disk you have has no sata driver .

Why are you wanting to install XP?

That laptop was shipped with Vista was it not?

Although hardly impossible you will have a hard time finding XP drivers as this is a Vista laptop.

If you could expand on your issues with Vista and why you wish to downgrade (which Vista will not allow unless you remove it and find XP drivers) perhaps we could offer alternatives.

I am sure rokytnji will be glad to show you how to install a Linux system.
