    From cmd type

    vol check a:

    Do this with a disk in drive.

    Also can you read previous floppies?

    If not go to the Device Manager and Uninstall your floppy drive then reboot.

    XP should be forced here to reinstall it.

    Man.... now I gotta put my hammer away! The uninstall idea worked fine on the xp machine,the 2000 pc just ruins the floppy(makes unreadable/useless). I only use that pc as a back up for internet access. I'll be sure to give a donation this week sometime. Thanks for all the help.

    No problem. Glad to help.

    XP was the first Windows OS to basically carry it's own drivers for hardware.

    The whole reason for the SATA thing is that SATA didn't exist when XP was developed.

    Thanks for supporting the web site. We are all volunteers but the server needs to be fed.
