Well how about this soundsev3n, before you planned for reintall XP, go to
my computer -> right click -> system -> device manager

write down all the devices you have for your computer. You motherboard CDs should contains all the necessary software for the hardware installed but just in case you have installed some hardware that didn't come from your motherboard. or you lost the CD.
