I've got problem with my microphone

I've installed soundcard driver but still there is problem with my microphone.
I can't here my microphone directly from my speaker. it also cannot be played when I want to have a call with my skype or yahoo! messenger with voice. this problem occur when I reinstall my windows. I'm using XP SP2.

Open Device Manager. Are there any "errors" reported? (Yellow exclamation marks "!" or Red "X"'s)

If not, then open your Sound Control Panel (Start, Run, sndvol32.exe).

Is the microphone listed?

If not, click on Options, then Properties. Place a check mark in the Microphone box. Click OK. Remove the check mark from the MUTE box if present. Adjust the volume slider to a comfortable level. Does this resolve the problem?

If the Microphone is listed, click on the Advanced button under the Microphone slider. Under Other Controls place a check mark in the +20db Boost box. Does this resolve the problem?

it is listed. but when i click button "advanced" in Sound Control Panel, there is no option for Boost Box, its like my microphone is not detected.
actually, I got another problem too. when i try to install soundMAX control panel, it won`t do the installation. is it influencing my microphone?

i opened the sound control panel. there is a microphone listed. but when i clicked button "advanced" the options for boost box is disabled... but the option is there, its just unaccessable.

actually, i`ve got other problem too. i cannot install SoundMAX control panel. but i could install the soundmax driver. is this problem influence my mic?
