'Owner' Choice at startup....
I bought a couple of 'new' Dell Optiplex hard drives for my wife and I. When hers starts up it goes directly to the icon screen....mine stops and makes me 'choose' owner [there's no other choice available]. If I don't choose it, it will sit in limbo for hours.
I have tried to find that setting but am lost....what can I do to get it to just boot to the icon screen? I also tried searching this site first but found nothing.
Thanks, Kelly

Hiya,
If you are still having problems and require help, please post back.

I did root around and find a choice of either that screen or the log in, but no choice to elimnate both was there so I gave up. Unless you know how to get around it, I still have to click something after boot up to use the computer.

This may help;
Start, Run and type control userpasswords2. Click OK.
Under the Users tab, clear the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" check box. Click Apply.
In the dialog box that appears, enter a user name and password that should be used to logon automatically. (Administrator will probably appear first, change this to your normal, everyday account, unless Administrator is what you use (not recommended).) Click OK.
Open Control Panel, User Accounts. Click "Change the Way Users Log On and Off".
Uncheck "Use the Welcome Screen" and "Use Fast User Switching".
Alternate Method:
To get Windows XP to boot straight into Windows instead of stopping on the Welcome screen remove the ASP.NET account.
