    Please Help

    The is my first posting and so I will do my best to expain whats going on with my Pc when I load Xp and click on my user every thing appears to be fine I then go to my Desk top and click on any of the icons they take ages to load and some times you have to double click on them again and then sometimes they load twice. I run Bitdefender total internet security in real time which has done a deep scan and found nothing, I also run a-squared free not in real time but scan once a week with it and it has found low level malware, and I also use Registar mechanic as well one a week but that has not found any thing at all.
    i have used MISCONFIG and gone in to the start up menu and BDAgent (BIT Defender), IE Show BIt defender and ctfmon god knows what this is! but every thing else is unchecked.

    I am useing firefox as my broswer. If you could keep the answers simple that would be great as my PC knowledge is not that great,.

    Thank You

    It's probably one of your virus malware scanners.
    I just had a computer repair for the same problem. They were using Webroot Spyware Sweeper. Even when you turned it off the core was still running and blocked any attempts to disable it. Turns out there is a hidden screen where you can shut it down.

    Here's what you do;
    Right click anywhere on your bottom task bar and open Task Manager from the menu.
    Now go to the tab that says Processes and check the box that says Show All Processes From All Users.
    Click on the top of the column marked CPU to bring the highest usage processes to the top. If the top ones say 0% then click on it again or scroll to the bottom.
    Now click on an icon on your Desktop. The task manager will minimize. Click on it to bring it to the front. Watch the processes.
    The culprit will show itself right then and there.

    You may also want to try turning off some modules in BitDefender or turn down the level of security and see if that helps.
