    - Check your Display Properties
Right click an empty spot on your desktop
Click on the SCREEN SAVER tab
    Select (none)
    click APPLY

]you may be a victim of software counterfeiting, this copy of windows did not pass the genuine windows validation
    This statement may be TRUE.

Try clicking the 'Power' button in 'Monitor Power,' and select all three to 'never.'

    Hello Danthespan.

    Right-click on the desk-top (Anywhere)
    Select 'Properties'
    Select 'Screen Saver'
On that page there should be a 'Monitor Power' setting, and below to the right-hand side a 'Power' button.
Click on it and set all Three items i.e., 'Monitor,' 'HDs' and 'Standby System' to 'Never.'
    Select OK
I hope this will help you.

    regards

I would agree with grimerz except for the fact that you icons are still there.

I'm thinking that either a mem problem or video card and/or drivers.
Are you running any third party wallpaper rotator ?

This article addresses the issue that you are having. Removing a popup does not fix this. It is generated by Microsoft itself.
