Problems after using RegSeeker
I've been using a program called (RegSeeker), actually I got this program from a member of this web-site. I've been using it for several months with no problems. But the last time
I used it (about two weeks ago) all kinds of crazy stuff happened. I used the same settings I've used all along but something went wrong.
(1) I like to line up my desktop icons down both sides & acrossed the top in single file.
Now when I reboot all the icons go to the left side of my screen.I've tried all combinations
of settings with no luck.(align to grid, show desktop icons, auto arrange etc with the same results, all to the left.
(2) Each time I reboot, my (show quick launch) setting is turned off ,and I have to reset it.
(3) My Adobe flash player won't work ,and I can't get it to re-download.
(4) When I try to turn off my computer (start-turn off computer-turnoff) it won't turn off
so I have to manually turn it off.
Yes I did back-ups and restore points ,when I try to use the back-up I get an error, that says, cannot import, error accessing the registry. And my computer will not recognize any
restore piont. I need some help
Thank You, Mike Relue m.relue@comcast.net

When you say restore points do you mean within the registry cleaner. I am not a Windows user, my O/S doesn't use a registry, but I might suggest you open System Restore within Windows and Restore your operating system to a month before you did your registry cleanup. I think those registry cleaners always cause more problems than they fix anyways. Just my opinion though.

Open RegSeeker. Click on Backups. Click on the backup at which your problems started.
I've been using Regseeker for a number of years with not one problem. It's possible this problem is associated with something else. What that may be, I don't know at this point with the info provided in your post. It's possible you may have picked up some malware.

I've had this same problem. I'm running a legit WinXP. No malware, spyware, virii, etc. At the advice of a professor I ran RegSeeker 1.55. I selected individual items instead of the Auto option. My QuickLaunch and Desktop toolbars constantly disappear each time I reboot. My desktop icons could be re-arranging each time, but I don't have them displayed (hence the use of the toolbar). I've also noticed that some quicklaunch shortcuts disappeared. Some of my programs reset as if they were new. And some keys I cannot access anymore. When I tried reinstalling some of the programs that were affected I got an Registry Error 5 (Cannot write to the registry). I'm still researching how to fix this. It seems that even the restore options in RegSeeker cannot restore certain keys, as they seem to be locked.
I'm going to try to restore them in safe mode.

Welcome to D-A-L.
As I stated in my above post, I've been using Regseeker for a number of years with not one problem. Ever. I think your problem is associated with something else. ie; Settings from another program which may be "protecting" (blocking) registry changes, or, possibly malware.
Safe Mode is generally a safe bet. (No pun intended.) Minimal programs/drivers are loaded in this state.
Post back with your results and any further questions.

In vista,You need to do any registry backups using regseeker with an administrator user account and then use that same account to restore those backups. The backups don't restore if created on a standard account. I don't know how this applies to XP,but it's probably something similar.
