    Smile Windows Media player

Hi all, hope you can help - i'm useless with computers so speak slowly....

I'm in the process of ripping my cd's on to on media lbrary. How do i stop my computer reading and updating the media information? I want to enter it manually.

Reason is...i have loads of music on multi-artist compilations. I don't want to rip the whole album just say, one or two tracks. I want to be able to rip an individual track off a comp and edit it all up.
Then i want to rip another track off the album, but have it as a sperate album in my library.

Instead it keeps on grouping them together because they're ripped from the same source.

    Can anyone help?

    Cheers

    Ian

    Hi and welcome to D-A-L!

Okay, here's what you can try.

Open Windows Media Player > Click Tools (if you're using WMP11 and it's missing, press the "Alt" button and a menu should appear, click tools then) > Choose Options > Click the "Library" tab > Untick "Retrieve additional information from the Internet"

That would stop it from downloading information from the net and changing the track information.

For the CD Ripping, I'm not sure if I got it right but you can try doing the same as above except choosing the "Rip Music" tab instead of "Library".

After you've set that you should be able to manually change the albums and group them individually. Tell me if you meet any road bumps because I'm not entirely sure as I've been using iTunes for the past year or so
