    print DOS to USB

    dear sirs,
hoping you can help me-I use a DOS based system to estimate prices for my print business-written many years ago. To print I need a printer that accepts DOS generated output - a Canon BJ-250, and have limped by for the past few years by buying these printers from ebay, etc.
Sadly, it seems the worlds supply has ended and I cannot find one - is there a software solution to my problem to enable me to use the USB link to more modern printers.
Most grateful for your help. Pete denton

    Hi Pete and welcome!

I am not sure what you mean by DOS generated, but I am assuming you mean the program is running under DOS, or a DOS window, and prints via a parallel printer interface.

It is also not possible for us to be specific when we don't have the specifics of the computer you want to run this program on. Ultimately, you should probably upgrade your program so that it runs under Windows. Attempting to support legacy software will do nothing but get harder, and more expensive, as time moves on.

That said, entering DOS printing in XP into Google might give you some ideas - or create more questions! But that's good too.

Also, check out, DOS print USB Windows printers.

Printfil is a software solution designed to do that. Please find more info and a free trial version to download at PrintFil: DOS print to USB printer | LPT1 to USB, PDF, GDI | Unix printing on Windows
