    IDE drives help

ok so i was on the internet the other night and all of a sudden my computer just froze. I waited it out but nothing happend so i shut it down by holding the power button. When i tried to start it up again it doesn't get past the first loading screen and to be more specific it doesn't get past where it says detecting IDE drives... right above where it says that i have four IDE channels. channel 0 master, channel 0 slave, channel 1 master, and channel 1 slave. It says someting for all of them except IDE channel 0 slave. For that one it says none. I can leave my computer on for as long as i want and it doesn't get past detecting IDE drives. PLEASE help!!!

Well, that does not look good, but sadly, you told us nothing of your computer so it is hard to give any advice. Is this a laptop? PC? Home made or factory assembled? Make and model? How old is this computer?

Is the interior clean of heat trapping dust and dirt?

    What is your drive setup?

Have you checked the IDE cables are securely fixed to the mobo and the drives?
What is connected to the IDE channels?

    channel 0 master
    channel 0 slave *
    channel 1 master
    channel 1 slave

Can you disable channel 0 slave in the BIOS and see if the PC will POST past this point?

I'm assuming you boot up your OS from chan 0 master.
