Hi, can someone tell me why all of the sudden my monitor died? It worked fine one day, then the next it wouldnt turn on.i can turn my comp on...but i cannot see as my monitor is dead. i checked the cords were plugged in properly and switched power on and off at the wall. What should i do? buy a whole new PC or just a monitor? and if i just buy a monitor, does it have to be the same model?

What kind is it? It is a CRT or LCD?

If LCD does the transformer light come on?

The transformer is the "box" on the power line. It has a green little light on it.


Do you have another monitor you can try?


No they do not need to be the same.


Some have DVI plugs and some have VGA but they also most all have adapters between the two.

i thinks its CRT cos its old. there light thats usually green or orange no longer comes on...but when you turn on the modem...all the green lights for screen comes on then off.... but the main power light for the monitor doesnt... im looking on trademe for a monitor to try.....

CRT's are "box-like" like old TV's.

LCD are flat panels.

If it is a CRT I'd recommend using the opportunity to upgrade to an LCD.
