ok, so i am working on a hp pavilion notebook, everything runs fine performance wise, the problem is in the sound software.

All audio device drivers have been reset, dxdiag finds no problems.

When some audio plays the sound that comes out is broken up by pauses and crackling noises, i have ruled out the speakers because i connected the computer to a tv and the same sounds played on teh tv speakers, any ideas?

Try reinstalling the drivers:

computer is a Pavilion dv8301nr, i think its a problem with the conexant ac-link audio card, any way to check this?
