XP always wants to check Hard Dtive for Consistencies

    Hi,

I have recently ran virus detection programs and CCCleaner, and the system is running better than it did, but it now takes 10 minutes longer to turn on because it insists on checking the hard drive.

I get the blurb about press any key if you don't want to perform the check, but no matter which key I press, it insists on checking everything.

The frustrating thing is it never finds anything wrong?

    Any ideas??????

Start> Run> bring up a command prompt by typing in CMD and type: fsutil dirty query c:.

This queries the drive, and more than likely it will tell you that it is dirty.

    Next, type: CHKNTFS /X C:.

The X tells Windows to NOT check that particular drive (C) on the next reboot.

At this time, manually reboot your computer, it should not do a Chkdsk and take you directly to Windows.
