I am using XP PRO SP2 and want to access Windows components. The wizard runs ,but when I press finish nothing happens ,no list appears.

What Wizard exactly?
Are you referring to the option under Add or Remove Programs?
More details would help us help. Including whether or not this is a new problem etc.
-
Sorry. Yes this is on the Add or remove Program.
-
Is Add or Remove Programs empty or just Windows Components?
If the latter do see see the list in the Registry?
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Setup\Oc Manager\Subcomponents"
If this is a new problem try a System Restore.
System Restore
--------------------------------------------------
You might try a System Restore to a point prior to your problem:
start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
-
Thanks for your reply. Yes the list is where you say in the registry. It isn't a new problem I have done restore. In 'errors' there is an entry, sysoc REG_MULTI_SZ 'Setup could not copy one or more files. The specific error code is 0x4c7 Press OK to continue or Cancel to stop set up and try again.

Where do you see that error? In the Event Viewer?
Also can you clarify what it is you are trying to do?
After you make changes in that Wizard and click Finish the Wizard disappears.
This is what happens. The changes were made and the Wizard closes. No new list is shown. The Wizard just vanishes. This is the way it works.

In Add or Remove Programmes I click on Add/Remove Windows Components. The Wizard starts saying collecting information, no screen comes up displaying the Windows Components, it then displays Finish, which I click on, and then nothing else shows. As a result I cannot add or remove any components.
On my wife's computer ,XP, when I click on Add/Remove Windows components a list of them appear immediately.
The error I mentioned is shown in the regisrtry and may be irrelevant.
Thanks for your replies.

I would like to see where that error is exactly.
Also you should be able to edit your list from the registry itself. 0 & 1 should = on & off or vice versa.
Do you have another User account to try?
Does your Add or Remove list populate?
Does your Device Manager populate?
Is your Plug and Play Service turned on and set to Automatic?
start > Administrative Tools > Services
Or start Run... services.msc

I have tried another user account, Add or Remove list populates as does Device Manager and Plug and Play is on Automatic. The Subcomponents list does not appear to have an entry for Windows Components, what would the letters/name be. The 'error 0x4c7 ' appears in the Oc Manager - Error folder. I have tried setting some subcomponents set at 0 to 1 but no success. I presume the list you refer to is the subcomponent list.
Thanks for your help.
