    Accidentally deleted my sound device

Hello, I am new to this website and would appreciate some advice, I have accidentally deleted my sound device. My computer is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro laptop, I have tried to play a cd and it says there is no sound device.
My computer was really slow at starting up about one month ago so I went in and deleted a few things - one of which must have been my sound device - muppet I know. Can anyone help please ?
    Thanks
    Janet

Thanks for the advice, I have now downloaded the correct driver from the FSC website, I saved it to my PC and then went back into contol panel, sounds & it still says not sound device ?

I am not great on PC's so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi!
Right click "my computer" and select properties. depending whether you have xp or vista, it will be in a different place, but find device manager. (vista it will be on the left in that bar thing, xp will be under hardware).
once you have device manager open, find the little button that is "scan for harware changes".
Hopefully, it should find your device, and install drivers for it
    Hope this helps

In the device manager, is there anything if you expand the one which says sound, video and sommin else?
If there is the sound card there, right click it and update driver.
Also, what version of windows are you running?

That makes me nervous ! I was only trying to make my PC run start up faster, so I deleted some programs that my PC said I had not used for ages !

It starts up really fast now though - but no sound !

    Can anyone assist,
    Thanks in advance
