cannot get to system restore or help center, even tried it in command mode. this started when i installed some spyware doctor updates.

Have you tried to get into it booting into Safe Mode?You can also boot into Last known good configuration from Safe Mode menu after pressing F8.

Also when you ran Spyware Doctor you should have backed up your registry files. More than likely you have deleted a registry item when you told Spyware Doctor to fix problem.

You could also try turning off Spyware Doctor and then try to access system restore. Make sure you are disconnected from modem when trying this.Don't forget to turn it back on when done.That's it for me as far as suggestions go.
