anyways ive tried troubleshooting the normal things....making sure the mic is plugged in....tested the hardware/software nothing wronmg that i can see...
even tried start...accessories....sound recorder ...etc..cant get anything to record...
went to settings ....sounds....and looked things up there and seemed to be fine..the mic...wasnt muted or anything and again i know the mic is plugged into the proper jack...
so im stumped!! lol any suggestions are welcomed and even some hazing if this was something simple i overlooked...
b4 i forget..running winXP home 1.5G memory etc..
thanks to you all again...
-
also...sorry i didnt include this b4
soundcard is i think a C-Media AC97
-
this must be a stumper...either that or im just being impatient...:P

Are you using a front jack or rear?
If you have both have you tried both?
When you go to the Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Voice
Do the tests work there?
-
the jacks are located in the rear...and are color coded for idiots like me..:P
the tests do not work...already tried that b4 i posted for help...

What kind of MIC is it? Is it a headset?
Point being you need to have the hardware set as the default hardware.
If you are using a headset this needs to be chosen as default.
start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio > Default Device

thanks btw for trying to help....
ok everything was at default already....just for the heck of it i reset it anyways....still nothing....
it is a headset btw...

There should be a choice of Default.
Your motherboard chip will be Default by Default.
Did you make the headset the Default?
