Mouse & Sound Card problem >_<

Guess which noobs back for help

Hey guys.. Yesterday I was stretching and I accidently kicked off the power switch to my Laptop. I dont like shutting it down because Im sick of closing all the uneeded programs upon install.

So when I logged back on, I had a lot of mouse lag and an echo on the sound card as if my computer was freezing. I ended all programs etc and it continued.

I figured it was time for a reformat, as I had too much **** on it. Needless to say when I came back, both problems are still here...

    In detail:

The mouse goes smooth slowly, but when you go a little faster it will pause then jump up to where it shoul dbe.

The sound card just has an echo or a stutter, and its very annoying.

Any ideas? Is it hardware related?

Here is what it looks like...

By "reformat" do you mean you Clean Installed? Ran the manufacturer's "Factory Recovery"?

Did you reload the manufacturer's drivers?

Clean installed yes. Used a different disk (Windows XP Pro) and i've been doing it for awhile.

I've done it like 40 times already no problem, have all the drivers on an external hard drive, but once it powered off it ran bad, and still does after a full format...

Well if you reinstalled XP plus all updates > SP3 plus all the drivers: then and only then would I think perhaps hardware.

Did the laptop fall or get bumped during the "trip"?

What is the make and model?

Does it have any diagnostic tools?

I would take it apart again and repeat the process.

Being careful that everything is in place; lined-up properly; etc.

Look closely at the keyboard match up to the board as you put it back together.

Its gone. The cord is ruined. I hooked up an extra keyboard and mouse, and I'm ready to buy a new computer

Stupid junk laptop, wasn't even 2 years old.

So it works OK with the external keyboard and mouse?

Guess that is better than nothing.

What is the make and model?

We can gladly help if you feel up to building a new computer.

    Let us know.

make and model of my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 6400.

Im debating if I should get a new one or not, and if I do, a really good one or a not bad one...
