Do you definitely want a laptop? Rather than a desktop?

Here is a good general laptop review site:

Should I buy that? How hard would it be to install?

You can probably tell by taking your old one out.

Are you sure the old one has a damaged cable?

We might be able to find a service manual from Dell.

    What is your exact model?

The cable is damaged for sure.

Im currently bidding on a used one for about $25...

However, if my memory serves corrects, the keyboard is mounted to the laptop by like melted plastic rivets, not screws

If only you knew how much that helped me mate. If only. :|

Thank you so much, I had no idea you could do that. If I had known that my keyboard wouldnt be so messed up right now, as I had to try and reattach all the cords from the bottom etc. Keyboard installation will be easy now. In fact I may be able to repair this one, 2 of the fine wires have been ruined and I will try to VERY FINELY solder them back and hope for the best. But wait, I already won the auction... >_<

Dont think thats gunna work. In order to access the wire and seperate it from its plastic I have to use heat. (If anyone knows of a better way, please let me know)... And any heat that will melt the plastic will destroy the EXTREMELY fine metal inside aswell making it nearly impossible. I think Im gunna call the quits on repairing it and just buy a new one.
