You have a very old motherboard but we can try other options.
In a worse case scenario you can get a PCI Sound Card.
Anyway I suggest first trying Windows Update:
Start > All Programs > Windows Update
Take all Critical (Express) Updates then go back and Take the Optional Updates which might include an Audio driver.
You can also try the latest AC97 from RealTek but I doubt that it will work on old hardware:

Also just to note I am about off my shift but others will be along with perhaps better advice and I will return tomorrow.

i already tried the windows updates . said there were none avail . and which realtek ALC datasheet do i use ?

i tried the link , didnt wotk. still having the prob . just dont know what to download . comp. says cant find the hardware that supports it . i have a yellow ? by the multimedia audio controller and video controller and i get no sound.

actually i downloaded the VIA audio driver and got sound now . thanks for all ur help
