    Cpu @ 100%?

hi, my CPU usage seems to be at 100% for a large period during use, specifically when on the internet. even with Explorer closed it continually fluctuates between 20 - 100%

    i'm running
    IE7
    AVG Free
    Windows Defender (anti spyware)
    Sunbelt (firewall)
Malware blockers - SpywareGuard and SpywareBlaster

it is becoming impossible to navigate programs and websites with any kind of ease

it's taken 5 minutes to write this as the page and cursor would not load..

if anyone can advise on any checks i could do i would be very grateful

    thanks
    James

That is all IE & Kerio firewall.

What are you doing on IE?

    Watching video?

Does it change if you leave IE open but close all web sites?

Do you have the XP firewall turned off?

I myself would lose the Kerio and just use the XP firewall.

You should not need any other "security programs" save AVG and Spyware Blaster.

These programs can clog and choke your Operating System just as much as any virus could.

    Keep it to a minimum.

it seems worse when opening and using Photobucket. it really clogs up then. last night in particular with all windows closed it was still fluctuating between 20 - 90%. i've got Windows firewall turned off while using Kerio. i'll get rid of the excess you mention and see how it goes

    thanks
