It is a program you need to download from that link I posted.
hee hee, ya can tell im not very good at all this stuff,
anyway i managed to download it on the xp and the the results of make and model are
motherboard manufacturer is blank
and the model is
KT400-8235
is that right?
These are the chipset drivers which should get you the USB at least.
Audio might not be included.

Scroll down to Windows Drivers.
Are you certain there is no other label or ID on this computer as to a manufacturer and model?
If not you would have a "custom built" computer. Does that sound right?
You could try this audio driver:

hi again, i tried xicomputer and the realtek one and still no sound device is detected.
i do remember it had realtek installed on it before i reinstalled it.
it could also be custom built and i have looked everywhere for a label but there is none.
i did open it up though i didnt have a clue what i was looking for, i did see a little chip in there saying VIA VT8235 is this any help?...
These are the chipset drivers;

Probably the same as the last site.
VIA offers this audio driver:
http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...0&SubCatID=104
Also USB:

In general:

arrr im going crazy,
i tried all them and none worked
when i reinstalled xp and then did all the updates i think it has updated to sp3?
in add or remove it has windows installer 3.1(KB893803)
maybe this is why i cant get it to work,
oh the usbs are working just no sound.
Thanks heaps for all your help![]()
Windows Installer 3 is not SP3. SP3 has not been issued to Windows Update yet.
Those are the chipset manufacturers drivers (VIA).
Most motherboard manufacturers will add their own versions. In this case we need to know who made that motherboard.
On top of this most computer manufacturers such as Dell or HP use their own versions so if it were manufactured we would need to know by whom.
You could just keep try AC '97 drivers but there are so many versions.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&n...rivers&spell=1
You could also add a PCI sound card which would come with its own drivers.
I Love You![]()
Its all fixed....WOOHOO!...
Thank you
I ended up trying another ac 97 driver google search you put in and installed it restarted and hey presto i now have sound AND a newly reinstalled xp.. thank you so much for all your help.
Your great help
oh and thanks for clearing up with me that i didnt install sp3![]()
Cool.
Glad you found one in there. Might want to save it somewhere for the future.
