On further review this may not work with Vista. Sorry.

    I see this FAQ: http://www.nliteos.com/faq.html

Now that you have downloaded SP2 burn it to a CD so you will not have to download it again.

If you can SAVE the nLite download you should be able to copy:

    1) XP CD

    2) SP2

    3) nLite

to the old computer and try to combine there or else on another XP computer.

You could try the Vista version of nLite but I have no idea if it would work.

This was the last version for XP that I can find:

Basically just boot the CD and follow the prompts. The CD drive needs to be set in the BIOS to boot prior to the hard drive. The first step you will see will be "Press any key to boot from CD."

Again this is a good guide:

    http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/cl...all.html#steps

Choose a Clean Install not Repair. Choose a Full Format.

    Just an update,
I have managed to do it..woo hoo!!..
I cant believe i actually did it myself (with your help of course)
Im so proud of myself and very glad i didnt have to pay someone to do it for me and now i know how to do it if i need to again
I worked out that i had to change my bios to boot up in cd and not floppy.
So thanks you helped me make a sp2 disc and reinstall it all.
The computer is running so much better now, and now its all clear for me to put some educational games on it for my son...
I love this forum, you have helped me so many times now. I am just a self taught person and a few years back when i got stuck with something i was searching the net for help and stumbled across your site, best thing that ever happened.
I have learnt so much and its all to you.
    so thanks

You need to reinstall the motherboard drivers.

What is the make and model of the computer and or motherboard?

The manufacturers web site will have the drivers to download.

So it is not like a Dell? or HP? or IBM? etc. ?

If not run CPU_Z and post back: Mainboard: Make and Model
