firstly i have an icon on my taskbar which says i have 29 days left to use windows and i need to register the OS. it then says the windows i am using has been registered all it's allowable times and another certificate number needs to be entered.

i am won dering if this is connected to some other problems i am having..

i have no sound. when i click on sound device in System Information there is nothing

also, i have no flash player. when i try to download it, it just freezes on the next page

lastly, i cannot change the screen resolution from from 800 * 600, it says 'Input not Supported'

oh and icons except recycle bin have gone off the desktop!

have you re installed windows recently?

have you installed any other programme?

hi, yes windows has been reinstalled resently, a number of times due to viruses. these particular problems have been here since windows was last installed three days ago.

how was windows installed, recovery partition, XP Disc?

is it a legit copy of window for that machine?

hi, sorry for the delay, yes it is the original copy of windows that came with the machine.

EDIT: i called Microsoft Support and they were able to guide me through activation of the system.

a quick call to some nice call centre normally does the trick

you install windows recently and you don't activate them.You have to call to windows suport center to activate your windows.You have no sound because you don't install your sound card.Find the sound card drivers and install them.You lost your desktop icons because you install the windows and if you want you can put them again in desktop.For flash pleyer and screen resolution sorry but i don't know.
