    outlook express disappeared

    I lost my Outlook Express a couple of days ago, how I haven't the faintest idea. It was only used to open up emails that I received and I felt was important to keep. I tried to open then and was told that the file extension could not be recognized. I tried downloading Outlook Express 6.o and was told that there I had a later version (Internet Explorer 7) and could not download this version of Outlook Express. Is there someway to get Outlook Express back? I tried to delete I.E. 7 but for some reason it remains. I did delete it from the Control Panel, but in remains some where. I can't find it. I hope I was explicit enough to have my problem understood.

    When you uninstall IE7, it simply reverts to IE6, hence the Add\Remove entry.
    In IE, go Help>About Internet Explorer. If it says ver. 6, download, and install ver. 7.

    broni, I went to help and found that I do have IE6. I had installed IE7 and thought that was the reason that I couldn't download OE6, so I deleted IE7. Now that I am back on IE6, why can't I download OE6? I get the following message: "Setup has detected a newer version of IE already in this system. Setup cannot continue"

    Outlook Express is a part of IE. You can't have IE7, and OE6.

    broni, I realized that in order to have OE6 I had to have IE6, OE6 will not work with IE7. So I now have IE6 so where or how do I get OE6 back?

    There are Registry edits required to repair IE6 or OE6.

    Otherwise setup will always see a newer version etc.
