    can't turn on computer!!

    Hi,

I am not able turn on my computer, it was working fine but everything froze so in order to turn off I just switched of the switch at the back of the computer, somthing that I have done before with no problems turning back on, until now.
I went to turn back on and nothing, it's as if no electricity is coming through at all, have checked the fuse in plug and all o.k,.
    Any idea what is wrong?

    Thanks

    Emily.

    1. Open CPU casing
    2. Turn power on
    3. Search for a green led light

If it's not there it could be your Power Supply Unit or motherboard being fried =X

YIKES!!!!! that doesn't sound good, I will wait for hubby to come home to unscrew the casing.
If it is the motherboard being fried! does that mean that everything is lost and I need a new comp?

Will I be able to rescue photo's etc?

    Thanks

Does the power supply fan come on or is there absolutely nothing?

Have you tried a different outlet or verified that the one you use is working?

In a worse case scenario you can get the data off the drive using another computer.

Also a lesson in backing up any important data.

If you are getting absolutely no power the Power Supply is the first suspect.

The rest of the computer is probably just fine.

No the fan does not come on I get nothing what so ever, the power outlet is fine as other stuff works fine from it.
My husband has taken it into work today to get someone to take a look, I'm hoping that they can rescue the important stuff!.
I'm always telling myself to transfer the photos etc onto disc but it's one of those things, all the time the comp is working you think that it will always be o.k, I have only myself to blame!!!!?
I'll post when I hear anything,
    Thanks for the replys. x

Hoping it's just the power supply then!
If so, it will be an easy job of replacing it, and then your pc will be back good as new...

If everything turns out okay, i don't you'll be needing any encouragement to back-up those files though!!

One thing though, I've had some experience with fried motherboards but most of the time the hard disk files can be installed on another computer and saved. Your hard disk could be fried, but as far as my experience goes it is somewhat unlikely.

Access to more than one computer.

I'm hoping that they can rescue the important stuff!.
The Hard drive can always be read in another computer.

Your symptoms very much imply a Power Supply issue. There is little likelihood that any other part of the computer was/is damaged.
