usb wont work but usb hubs will :S
just yesterday, All my USB devices stopped operating. The front usbs, the back ones, all of them. Tried to switch ports but the results were not positive. The bios had no answers to give when finally the only thing that works is a usb hub, anywhere, and thats how i'm powering my devices. What could be the problem? I think possibly its a software problem in windows, perhaps drivers or some other far fetched kaboodled problem. Thanks

Is the hub powered externally?
If so I would think a power issue.
-
the hub isnt powered externally, thats the big puzzle
-
Just to verify:
The hub is plugged into a port that otherwise does not work?
-
yes, however, no ports work unless I use a hub. It seems that when i put the devices in normally it powers on for a few seconds then just shuts off (ive tried printers flash drives etc). But when i use the hub it continually powers it.

Any issues in the Device Manager?
-
nah, i checked - all is good, i went to the bios and every address/port was enabled. It was just a sudden thing

Could try System Restore and or reload your motherboard chipset drivers.
-
ill try reinstalling thanks !

i just reinstalled all the drivers inlcuding a USB S3 driver. I think ill try livebooting a linux distro and see if it works to eliminate any software issues. Thanks again
