Pc Doesnt Go Past Bios Menu Screen

Hello people of DAL. I again come back to you with a problem .

Well while i was on the computer one day i tripped the Extension Cord switch and it turned off my pc*it was a mistake*.

I restarted pc and it it shows the Bios menu where it tells me to press Del to get the menu to go to Bios menu. Then it goes away and it keeps a black screen.

I tried to put a new OS on the pc but after it says checking system hardware and configuration and stuff it goes away and stays on a black screen.

There are no BSOD or anything like that.

    Any help please?

Can you access the BIOS Setup? Press Delete.

If so see if your hard drive is detected in the BIOS.

Try removing the CMOS battery for about one minute, then replace it. You will have to re-enter your BIOS settings again though.

I did not do that, but it may be wise to. I assume you mean the 'Clear CMOS' jumper?

I only switched all the power off to my machine; unclipped the CMOS battery; waited 1min and relocated the battery, and only then did I switch on the power.

I did not change the CMOS Jumper from 'On' to 'Off,' as well because it is difficult to reach.

    regards

Check that the hard drive you boot to is set as the first hard drive to boot.

If you do clear the CMOS you will also have to do this.

If it is a SATA drive each channel is listed in the boot order.

Your symptoms indicate the BIOS cannot find the hard drive to boot it.

I'd also suggest running the hard drive manufacturers diagnostic on the hard drive.

You will find this at the manufacturers web site. You can create either a boot floppy or ISO CD image to boot.

Is the old hard drive detected if installed as a slave?
