Having trouble adding another account to OE

Hi there! I did a search, but i really couldn't find what I was looking for.

Can some walk my through setting up multiple email accounts on outlook express?

I thought I had it done, but when i hit refresh for new messages it gives me an error and it asks for login name and password even though they are already there..and i can send mail from that address, just not receive.

thanks in advance if you can help!!!

i don't know if this info could help or not..

i have 3 email addys they are @sbcglobal.net
the original one POP3 is pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com and the same is with the SMTP. now with the new one it is telling me the POP3 and SMTP is att.yahoo.com. so i have been playing around with it to see if the other one would work and its not. this is what i am getting.

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'XXXMYEMAILXXX', Server: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user/password', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Setting up multiple email accounts in OE, is the same as just setting up a single email account. You can add a new account following the instructions here.

When you setup an email account in OE, you obviously have to supply your username and password to receive email from your account on the POP mail server, but sometimes when sending the mail the SMTP server doesn't authenticate the user, it just simply sends the email using the details that Outlook Express sends (your name and email address entered in your account details). This makes me think that you are perhaps trying to sign in using the wrong username.

Say your email address is jeremia@email.com, your username to sign in to the server might simply be jeremia. However, if you put the username down as jeremia@email.com the server won't allow you to sign it. Or it could be the other round. Go back to your account settings and try to modify the username and this should hopefully solve your problem.

I was writing my post when you posted this so I didn't actually see this. This post has quite confused me. I don't really understand what your trying to tell me.

I'll just go through what you've written and see if I'm understanding.

You have 3 emails addresses with the @sbcglobal.net extension.
Are all three email accounts set to access the server pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com?

sorry!! didn't mean to confuse you. i was pasting the error message i get when trying to refresh in the bottom half and the top was the extension.

it is obviously a user error lol, but i'm just not getting it. everything it put in the correct fields, i even double checked it against the account that works.

I'm in the UK so it's late at night here and doesn't take much to confuse .

If all your settings have been entered exactly the same as the other two accounts and it's the same provider, then it's indeed an odd program. Outlook Express is convinced that there is an error with the username or password being used, that's what its reporting back. Make sure you are definitely entering the correct ones. It might sound trivial, but removing the account and recreating it might solve the problem, there could be some tiny inconsistency in the details that is evading you.
