Forward slash displays as \
I have a computer that runs in Japanese, my native language. A Windows XP.
I recently had to reformat my Hard Drive, causing me to re-install my English Language Options, and since then every time I type a forward slash it displays as a yen symbol. My computer makes no distinction....It works the same.
I am not sure if other computers that do not run in Japanese can see this, or just mine.
It has caused no problems other than slight confusion on my part.
Thank you for your time.

Have you adjusted all your settings under: Control Panel > Regional and Language Options?
-
Yes, I have, but the forward slash still displays as a yen symbol...even on web pages.
Should I uninstall and reinstall English Language Options?

Just to verify:
Regional and Language Options > Advanced
Unicode is set to US English?
The \ = Yen is a unicode function

I have it set to Japanese because Japanese is my native language...I do not want my settings to display as English.
I just need to know how to view a front slash as a front slash. Is this impossible with my language in Japanese?
It displayed fine before I installed the English Language options.

Sorry I am not familiar with "English Language Options".
Is this a program you have or is it a part of your XP version?
-
It is...my way of roughly translating the kanji here. Under my Language Options I can add Roman languages like English, Spanish, etc. The forward slashes began appearing as yen symbols once I did that.
I am sorry...I am on a Japanese version of Windows XP, so any titles or words I give you will be slightly incorrect....
I am having trouble finding a solution on Japanese sites because many of the workers are volunteers and are having trouble understanding my question.
If you can not help, I will find another solution, I applaud you for trying.

Okay. I understand now.
I have no answer at the moment but will try to research the issue.
If you do not use the English options then everything is fine? Is this correct?
Again just to verify: From Language Options > Advanced you are adding English? Like I can add Japanese?
-
Yes, that is right on both accounts.
I am adding English like how English computers add Japanese, and it worked fine before I added English.
Thank you for your efforts, and I am sorry for presenting such a confusing problem!

See if these settings are relevant:

I understand they are coming from the reverse angle.
It is perhaps difficult in English web sites to find info on Japanese versions of XP.
