OK this could probably go in a couple of different places but I'll put it in the XP forum.

Obviously I'm running XP on a VIA VB7001 motherboard (the computer is for my car). I have a cmedia 8738 PCI soundcard with a gameport on it. I don't care about the sound part of the card I got it specifically for the gameport to use with my controller.

Everything seems to be installed correctly. Under the device manager the standard gameport is listed and it says it is working properly. The I/O range is set at 0201-0201. I cannot edit anything under the resources tab because it is grayed out.

So I go to the game controller under control panel and choose the sidewinder automatic and everything installs OK but the controller is listed as not connected even though it is. I've tried a couple of different drivers but notta. I've tried reinstalling XP's crap but get the same result.

Also the controller works just fine on my desktop PC. I also tried another generics controller that also says not connected when hooked up.

Any ideas?
